Introduction:
For many of years we have walked on lands not knowing how they were once not ours or how hard we fought for it. Some of it was for a good cause others were considered terrorist and cruel towards other groups of people. As a result this has caused the wipe out of races and untrusted outlooks on life due to the treatment of people of your kind by fellow Americans.
Body1: The fight for Oregon territory for example took 11 years for the union to take control of it.
The Oregon Territory stretched from the Pacific coast to the Rocky Mountains, this area included  Oregon and Washington.During the time before the Oregon territory was claimed by America only it was claimed by Russia,Spain, America, and Britain. Russia and Spain pulled out of fighting for the land. For 10 years America and Britain continued on a great debate over who took control of the land."Neither side then budged, but they did agree to postpone the decision for 10 years. In 1827 Washington and London agreed to postpone the issue indefinitely subject to one year’s notice by either party. There the matter remained until the  Webster-Ashburton Treaty of 1842 partially delineated the northeastern U.S.-Canada border, but left the border of the Oregon Territory unsettled."They later negotiated a line of where Canada and America would sop and start in the land that was Oregon Territory "With some minor modifications, which reserved the whole of Vancouver Island to Canada, Great Britain agreed to Polk’s suggestion"(https://history.state.gov/milestones/1830-1860/oregon-territory)
Body 2: The Louisiana territory served a great purpose to the building of America and it still does. The land of Louisiana territory was being eyed mainly because it was the easiest way to have access to the Mississippi river which reached out to the Gulf of Mexico as a great trade root helping it become a good import area. This land helped global trade and provided a way to reach things that were rare to other areas or could not be found. The Louisiana Purchase took place in 1803. The union came and took the land when the french were under extreme pressure. "when James Monroe and Robert Livingston, the American minister in France, approached napoleon, they found him surprisingly receptive.Napoleon's imperial plans had been foiled by slave rebels in  the Caribbean colony of saint Domingue, which now is Haiti. Led by Toussaint L'Ouverture, the rebels defeated a french army sent to suppress them. without that army to occupy Louisiana ,and needing money to fight the British, Napoleon decided to sell the Louisiana Territory."(page 209, The nation expands: The Louisiana purchase,Prentice Hall United States History.) After owning the land of Louisiana Purchase the government paid two gentleman tour the area for years. This land was mostly controlled by native Americans. This caused a resistance against the American expansions. " After the battle of Tippecanoe, the Americans burned prophetstown. The native American movement lost the momentum, though most native Americans escaped to fight again."(page 215, Gearing up for war: Battling native Americans,Prentice hall United states history.) This war lead to many invasions of native American territories and extreme terrorism and later on defeat of the people. Many of these natives were later pushed on too reservations.
Conclusion:
sometimes helping yourself means taking away from others. But greed and the need for control can bruises and effects relationships for long to come. Due too this unethical events of mass murders and contracts which are bias the distrust of our government that for ages will continue. Even today in society the feeling of mistreatment to minorities still is a big political and social event in society. It was those birthmarks from the past that seem to have now become a(n) saddening trademarks.
